After 10 years of restoration and reconfiguration effort, the Silver Star is nearing completion.
This Budd 10-6 sleeper, built in 1950 for the Unon Pacific, is being reconfigured as the premier Private Car in America today.
Four Double Bedrooms and two roomettes have been retained from the 10-6 configuration, now complemented by a full Gourmet Kitchen, a Shower & Changing Room, a Dining Salon/Conference Room and an expansive Rear Solarium.
This March 2012 photo shows the lengthened side panes, as well as the large new rear facing Solarium windows.
Exterior work is complete, with all running gear updated and rated for Amtrak's fastest service. Craftmen are completing the interior to an unparalled level of elegance.
Watch for additional details soon, but for now here is the Floor Plan and another view showing the vestibule end of the Silver Star - the 21st Century Dream Machine ®
The Silver Star is scheduled to move to Cincinnati in early April 2012
